Welcome to Peace Corps Moldova’s website. We are happy to have your visit our page, and to learn more about Moldova, its people, traditions, and our PCVs that serve here.
Peace Corps came to Moldova shortly after the break- up of the Soviet Union. Last year we celebrated our twentieth anniversary with over 1,200 Volunteers spreading peace and friendship while offering technical assistance to the people of the communities in which they have served.
Moldova may be one of the lesser known countries in the world, but it is also one of the most beloved by the PCVs that serve here. The friendships made with host families and community partners, the local tradition of hospitality, the bountiful harvests from a relatively short growing season, readily available internet connectivity, and the close proximity to Europe are some of the things our PCVs appreciate most about service in Moldova.
Most PCVs learn to dance the hora and how to make wine with their host families. They also learn first-hand the struggles of day to day life in the poorest country in Europe. The opportunities to make a difference as a teacher or advisor to NGOs, small businesses or regional government agencies are plentiful and rewarding.
Whether you are an applicant thinking about PC service in Moldova, a current or returned PCV, or one of our community partners, I invite you to this website to learn more about our programs and impact. In addition, I invite you to enjoy the stories and videos that help paint a clearer picture of Moldova….the people, the food, the customs, and daily life in this beautiful country.
Bine ati venit! We are waiting to welcome you to Moldova!
